Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly the Naga brethren on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival 2019, which falls on February 15 .
Lui-Ngai-Ni is a composite festival of all the Nagas of Manipur celebrated every year on February 15 for a bountiful and bumper harvest.
Blessings of the Almighty are sought on the occasion, read a message of Dr Najma.
The festival has now become popular as a "Tourist Festival", occupying a unique position not only among the Nagas but also among other communities too, said the Governor and urged all to celebrate the festival in a spirit of oneness.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh wished the people of Manipur, especially the Naga brethren "Happy Lui Ngai Ni" .
Saying that Lui-Ngai-Ni, the seed sowing festival is celebrated during the spring season to cement the bond of unity amongst Naga tribes, N Biren appealed all to celebrate the festival in its true spirit to strengthen the bond of brotherhood amongst people of various communities residing in the State.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker, Yumnam Khemchand also extended his best wishes to the Naga people on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni.
The Speaker maintained that the festival, which heralds the season of seed sowing and marks the start of the year for the Nagas, is a special occasion to honour and appease the God of crop and to pray for the well being of the people.
