Ukhrul observes 'Rights of indigenous People'

The 6th anniversary observation of Universal Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples was held with participation from different Naga organisations at TNL hall here today.
Justice (retd) Wungazan A Shishak, who graced the occasion as chief guest, also spoke on divergent aspects of indigenous rights.
''The Nagas are not minority.
The question of minority does not exist in Naga society.
Whose minority we the Nagas are,'' he said.
He also stated there is no question of minority in the context of indigenous people.
Justice Shishak also enlightened the audiences on various rights and issues of indigenous people with personal anecdotes.
NPMHR secretary general Dr.Gina Shangkhum delivered the welcome address, while Yoyo Pheiray exegesised on the theme ''Our Identity, Common Ownership.''
Senior advocate Daniel Ramsan and Tangkhul Shanao Long Imphal president Grace Shatsang shared their opinions on the theme.
There was also a interactive discussion among the particpants after Justice Shishak presentation on the theme.
Today's programme was organised by Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) .
