People for Animal (PFA) Manipur in association with Yening Animal Foundation, Unique Wildlife Protection Committee Manipur, Animal lovers, Veterinary doctors staged a protest against the killing of satellite-tagged male Amur Falcon called 'Manipur' and tigress Avni.
The protest was staged at the northern gate of Kangla and slogans were raised against the killing of the tigress in Maharashtra and Amur Falcon at the bordering area of Tamenglong and Noney districts.
Six year old tigress Avni is survived by two cubs at Tipeshwar Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra.
The localities there had lodged a complaint against the tigress as she was believed to have turned into a man-eater.
Animal activists requested forest officials to catch the tigress alive however she was shot dead.
People across the world have strongly condemned the killing of Avni.
Meanwhile, expressing solidarity against the killing of the tigress and denouncing the killing of 'Manipur', PFA Manipur staged the protest today.
