Regularise casual workers: Union

All Manipur Veterinary and AH, AL/CW Union has appealed the Chief Minister for regularisation of 66 (sixty-six) casual workers/Agri-labourer of veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services now serving in different district veterinary hospitals.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the union said that the 66 workers have been rendering their services to the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry since the last 16 to 30 years continuously till date by extending their services from time to time without any wages since January 1, 2009.Appealing the Chief Minister and authorities concerned to regularise the casual workers, the union said that it will launch intense agitation if the Government and authorities concerned does not take up necessary actions to regularise the said workers by October 20.General Secretary of the union Konsam Gunindro asserted that casual workers who have worked for more than 10 years are entitled to be regularised under concerned service rules of the Government.
Their services to the department are invaluable.
They have been toiling day and night even when they have been denied of their wages for years.
They have families who depend on them for livelihood, said Gunindro condemning the Government and authorities concerned for neglecting the casual workers who are mostly employed as vaccinators.
The union was formed in 2008.The union with six workers as petitioners had filed a writ petition in the Court on July 25, 2014, said Gunindro.
The union reminded the CM that on April 27, 2013, the then president and secretary of the union had submitted an application to the Minister of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry praying the regularisation of the 66 (sixty-six) casual workers and release of backlog wages.
