The celebration of Tangkhul cultural festival, 'Ngashan Phanit' has begun from today under the aegis of Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang, Ukhrul District from today at Thoyee Village in Ukhrul district.
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur Jason A Shimray (IAS), who attended the inaugural function as Chief Guest, called upon Tangkhul people, especially the youths to revive the culture of their forefathers and stay away from harmful influences of other cultures.
For each and every society, there would be a culture and it would always go on changing.
However, Tangkhul culture is today diminishing since the youths have adopted western culture.
In place of the rich cultural heritage handed down by their forefathers, Tangkhul culture has been replaced by gun culture today, Jason lamented.
