Imphal, March 09 2019:
Denouncing the gifting of a hand grenade by two unidentified individuals to Manipur People's Party general secretary (adm) H Geetajen inside his office room yesterday, members and leaders of MPP staged a sin in protest at the party office today.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, MPP president O Jugindro decried the act of leaving a hand grenade at the party office saying that the act seems to be an attempt to destroy the party.
Appealing all not to repeat such action in the future, the president lamented that the State Government, from time to time, have failed to take up any security measures to protect the political party members till date.
He recalled that seven leaders of the party including former Chief Minister as well as former vice president Yangmasho Shaiza and former MLAs namely N Deben and K Binoy were killed by unidentified gunmen in the past.
Maintaining that MPP has been actively participating in several social issues and fighting against any cause which threatens the territorial integrity of the State, including the BP issue, CAB 2016, Jugindro asserted that the killing of party leaders and repeated threats to the party have embedded fear and apprehension in the minds of the party workers which have made them reluctant to take part in politics freely.
The State Government has failed to deliver justice to any of the party leaders who were killed, till date, he asserted.
He then appealed to the people to bring a solution through peaceful negotiation even if there are differences or issues with MPP or its members.
