Imphal, January 08 2013:
While expressing its strong reservation over the handling of UG groups in Manipur, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has lambasted the ruling Congress government for its inactiveness towards various issues afflicting the State at present.
In a statement issued by its Vice President Heigrujam Nabashyam, MPP pointed out that certain policies of Government of India for dealing with various insurgent groups in region have sent out signals that encourages communal activities.
The case of NSCN-IM, which is in talk with the Government of India, is one such glaring example.
But the most unfortunate part is that the present state government which has been in power for more than a decade remains mute when it is supposed to talk and act, probably it fails to understand the gravity of the situation, Nabashyam asserted.
MPP also appealed to all the civil society organizations no to sensitize any public statement that would disturb the socio-political atmosphere of Manipur.
