Jiribam police seize tobacco products worth lakhs

Jiribam, August 06 2020:
A team of Jiribam police under the supervision of Addl SP (L & O), H Basulal Singh seized huge quantity of tobacco products worth about Rs 11 lakh from a truck plying along NH-37 at Leingangpokpi.
The truck was coming from Silchar, Assam towards Imphal.
On suspicion, the truck was stopped for checking and found some large white plastic sacks containing tobacco products concealed underneath boxes of edible items and soft drinks.
The truck was brought to Jiribam Police Station and checked thoroughly in the presence of Addl SP (L & O), and SI T Rameshwor Singh and found boxes of different tobacco items concealed inside the trucks.
The seized tobacco items include Golden Khani (8640 pieces), LX Jafrani Zarda (300 packets), Luxury Pan Masala (324 packets), G-1 Tobacco (52 packets) Goa Pan Masala (52 packets), Kaka Khaini (2296 packets) and SS-1 Tobacco (50 packets) .
The seized items will be handed over to the Food Safety Officer, Jiribam, said police.
