Manipur was an independent kingdom where all valley and hill people used to live together and even history tells that Meeteis once lived in the hills, said retired Lt Colonel RK Rajendra while adding that the recently signed Naga Peace Accord is the second secret ploy of BJP in Manipur.
Speaking on a public discussion programme on the Naga Peace Accord organised by International Meetei Forum and Scheduled Tribes Demand Committee at Manipur Press Club here on Friday, RK Rajendra further said that BJP's first secret plot in the State was unfolded during the June 18 episode that claimed 18 innocent lives.
The recently signed peace accord has some points which the Central Government does not want to make public, alleged RK Rajendra while announcing that another public discussion will be held in Thoubal district soon against the peace accord.
A public rally along with Satjal members will also be organised and every possible effort will be made to urge all leaders to hold an all political parties meeting of India in New Delhi on the Naga Peace Accord, said Rajendra who added that he got the permission to meet with Naga peace talks interlocutor RN Ravi during his visit in Manipur on September 8 .
General Secretary of Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Laishram Lokendro said that hills and valley can never be separated and Meeteis need to become scheduled tribes to ensure equality in the society.
Among others, the programme was also attended by retired CRPF Commandant I Inaoba Singh and retired Director of Sericulture Department, Th Thaibema Devi.
