NIA chargesheets top KCP leaders

The National Investigation Agency has filed chargesheet before a special court against two top leaders and an accomplice of two factions of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party in Manipur.
The three charge-sheeted were Khwairakpam Gopen-dro Singh alias Lanheiba Meitei, the chief of KCP(MC), N Priyo Kumar Singh alias Kesho Meitei, chief of KCP (MTF) and his accomplice Y Ingo Singh, a NIA press release said here today.
The three were charged under various sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and with entering into a criminal conspiracy of waging war against the country by recruiting cadres and organising training camps.
They were charged with involvement in various terrorist acts such as explosion, extortion, kidnapping, murder and grenade throwing in dif-ferent parts of Manipur through their respective or-ganisations.
The KCP(MC) under Gopendra Singh was responsible for attacking and killing of security forces and gov-ernment officials, bomb blasts in public places and attack on the Governor House in Manipur.
Gopendra Singh also gave arms training to his cadres and incited them against-the country, the NIA release said.
The KCP (MTF) under N Priyo Kumar as its the commander was responsible fof a large number of incidents re-lated to kidnapping for ransom.
These included the kidnapping of MANIREDA Director Dr Manglam, large-scale extortion of almost Rs 2 crore from government departments in Manipur, grenade throwing and killing of innocent people in that State, the release said.
He was arrested from Siliguri in July last year and during investigation it was revealed that he was running a terror and extortion network from the Indo-Nepal border while also having bases in Nepal.
Accused Y Ingo Singh worked under the command of N Privo Kumar and was assigned the task of collecting extortion from Manipur government departments for depositing in bank accounts through a network of internet banking transfer agents in Imphal.
In furtherance of conspiracy the accused persons had also managed to establish fake identities through driving licenses and PAN cards, the NIA release added.
Both these organisations :are banned as, terrorist organisations under section 35 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act by the Centre.
