Imphal, October 03 2011:
Even as the ongoing economic blockade imposed by the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) entered 64 bringing in its wake untold sufferings to many innocent people, the SHDDC appealed to the State Level Kut Committee, Manipur to stop further preparation for celebration of the festival.
President of SHDDC Ngamkhohao Haokip in a press release stated that people of Sadar Hills are suffering due to the reluctance of the state government in granting their demand.
In such a situation celebrating and observing such a big event of importance in the midst of Sadar Hills imbroglio may result in misunderstanding among the KUT celebrating tribes of Manipur.
Meanwhile, hundreds of villagers in and around Ikou village of Imphal district including, Meeteis, Nepalese, Thangals and Kukis staged a sit in protest in support of the agitation and demand of SHDDC at Ikou Keithel today.
