Shankarlal Swami, Manager of the Max Enterprises, Thangal Bazar who was abducted by some unidentified persons has been found dead at Waheng Khuman.
Along with discovery of the body, three persons including two IRB personnel accused of being involved in abducting the manager have been arrested.
The corpse of Shankarlal was found dumped in a fish farm in the midst of paddy fields known as Khumanpung Keijengbam Loukon near Waheng Khuman Mayai Leikai under Wangoi police station in Imphal West district this afternoon.
Shankarlal who hailed from Jaipur district of Rajasthan but staying at Thangal Bazar was abducted from inside Kangla Fort last morning while he was going for a morning walk.
On receiving information about the abduction, Imphal West District Police swung into action and launched intensive investigation.
In the course of the investigation, two personnel of 4th IRB posted at Kangla were pulled up today.
They have been identified as Yumnam Dinesh (30) s/o late Angouba of Waheng Khuman and Laishram Herojit (34) s/o Ibotombi of Laingamkhul under Lamsang police station.
The corpse of Shankarlal was discovered after intensive search operations based on the disclosure of the two accused under the captaincy of Imphal West SP Konsam Jayenta this afternoon.
Shankarlal's hands were found tied and the mouth gagged.
Police havt retrieved the corpse and deposited the same at RIMS morgue.
Further, one more accused identified as Hanjabam Deepu alias Pumananda (25) s/o late Kumar of Brahmapur Tha-ngapat Mapal has been arrested by Thoubal police.
One Maruti Gypsy used in abducting Shankarlal has also been recovered from Deepu alias Pumananda.
Another source maintained that IRB men Dinesh, Herojit and Deepu and their gang abducted Shankarlal in the name of KNA and a faction of KCP for a ransom of Rs one crore.
Even though it is said that the two IRB personnel and Deepu were involved in the abduction of Shankarlal, it is not yet clear Whether the three were involved in murdering the manager.
It is suspected that Shankar was killed by dump-ing him into the fish pond last night.
Meanwhile, a press re- lease issued by the Imphal West SP informed that mves-tigation is on and due eharge-sheet would be filed within a short time.
