A delegation of Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur called on Governor Dr Najma Heptula at Raj Bhawan today.
The team submitted a memorandum for recommendation on alternative plants for opium (Poppy) to the Governor, which was an outcome of a workshop which was organised on February 16 at Manipur University's VC Court hall, said Director, AIMS.
The Director explained that Yutaka Agatsuma, Chairman of Alternative Plant for Opium Poppy Sendai, Japan (who has more than 30 years of experience on the subject in Myanmar) and Teruaki Watanabe, Director, TMH Green Pvt Ltd, Tokyo, spoke at the workshop as experts among others while Laishram Radhakishore, Chairman Manipur Pollution Control Board graced the function as the chief guest and Yengkhom Surchandra, MLA of Kakching AC attended as the guest of honour.
During the meeting with the Governor, various development plans, particularly for poppy cultivating areas of Manipur including Machi village, Tengnoupal district and Louphong village, Phungyar district were also discussed.
