MU VC stresses on importance of Philosophy for humans survival

Manipur University Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor H Nandakumar Sarma (HNK) on Monday stressed on the importance of philosophy for the survival of human beings.
He was speaking at the World Philosophy Day organised by Indian Council of Philosophy Research, Delhi in association with Manipur University at the Philosophy Department, MU.
Attending the function as Chief Guest, Professor H Nandakumar Sarma said recognizing the importance of Philosophy, General Conference of UNESCO in 2005 proclaimed to observe the Philosophy Day globally.
He further stated that the Philosophy Day has been observed across the globe in the month of November.
For Manipur University, the day was scheduled to be held on November 19 last but the vent was deferred as it coincided with the Inter-College Youth Festival hosted by the University, said HNK Sarma.
Dwelling on the importance of philosophy, The VC stated that people around the world have started recognizing the values of the subject and called on all to observe the day in the future.
The observation was attended by Dean of Manipur University School of Humanities Professor Mani Meetei as President while MU Professor Soyam Lokendrajit and former professor of the University Professor Shyamkishore as Guests of Honour.
