Angom Ranjit conferred with RK Sanatomba Award

Imphal, June 30 2013:
The RK Sanatomba Memorial Journalist Award presented by RK Sanatomba Memorial Trust in memory of late RK Sanatomba, Editor of Kangla Lanpung, for the year 2013 has been conferred to Angom Ranjit, Chief Reporter of Poknapham daily.
The award presentation ceremony was held at the hall of JN Manipur Dance Academy here today.
The award was presented to Angom Ranjit for his writings in investigative journalism.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a shawl and a citation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Gangmumei Kamei stated that without the role media that has been playing in the society, no society can ever exist.
A society will cease to exist in the absence of media.
As such the general public should be made aware of the daily happenings and others by the media persons without any fear.
He also appealed to all concerned not to pose any threats to media persons while performing their duties.
Only when the media persons are set free in performing their duties, a society can developed to the fullest, he added.
At the outset of the function, people offered floral tributes to the photograph of late RK Sanatomba as mark of respect to the departed soul.
Apart from releasing the volume 7 issue 2 of Kangla Lanpung journal, a website kanglalanpung.org was also launched on the occasion.
Social Activist Thounaojam Iboyaima and Dr H Dwijashekhar Sharma were among other dignitaries who were present.
