The joint statement by the Rongmei CSOs; Rongmei Naga Youth Organization (RNYO), Rongmei Naga students' Organization (RNSO) and Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP), regional and State level units, has consulted and taken stock of the situation.
Whereas, the said assembly of RNPO did not constitute the status to qualify for conducting the Rongmei general assembly.
Members from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland did not attend or represent the general assembly, non-assembly members cannot take a decision of the affairs of the entire Rongmei people.
Therefore, the general assembly and its decisions cannot be accepted by the people at large and is made null and void, it asserted.
On the other hand, the Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP) has also issued a separate statement objecteing to the RNPO general assembly decision on September 25, wherein the RLP was dissolved along with RNYO and RNSO in the said meeting.
The release stated that the meeting was organised with malafide intention during the COVID pandemic to bulldoze the RLP, RNYO and RNSO and that RNPO has no absolute right to dissolved the three organizations under any circumstances.
The RLP which was established in 2004 has been functioning independently without any interference from any organization, it stated and added that it has also been contributing yeomen services to the Rongmei society, with special reference to women.
Therefore, RNPO should not infringe into the autonomy of RLP, it maintained.
RLP also expressed that it is very unfortunate the RNPO is spreading distorted and misleading information to the public to project RLP in a bad light.
RLP has therefore clarified to the general public that it will continue to stand firm and work for the welfare of Rongmei people in the three States of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, with special reference to women and other weaker sections of the society.
