Kakching, July 27 2021:
Pointing out that Kakching district administration and District Health Society have been conducting intensified mass testing and vaccination drive in areas under Sugnu assembly constituency so as to contain the spread of Covid-19, MLA K Ranjit contended that the lack of doctor, nurse, lab technician and para-medical staff in district hospital and health centres are creating serious obstacles to the testing and vaccination drives.
The medical staffers are engaged from other hospitals and private vehicles used to carry them, he added.
The MLA was speaking while inspecting the mass testing programme held at Wangoo Laipham Upper Primary School and Kakching Khunou Keithel on Tuesday.
He further stated that the medical staffers were engaged from other hospitals every time when mass vaccination or testing programme was conducted in the constituency.
Moreover, private vehicles are being hired to carry the medical staffers by bearing Rs 2000 for each vehicle.
Contending that the PHE department has failed to provide necessary potable water to CHIC set up at JNV Sandumba Achouba Umathel for Sugnu, MLA Ranjit also lamented that Kakching PHE department does not have a single tanker vehicle to supply water.
Even though the grievances were highlighted to the PHE minister and the chief engineer, they confessed of being helpless because of lack of fund.
So, water has been bought every week to supply to the CHIC from his own pocket money, he added.
In all 203 people were tested during the mass testing held at Wangoo Laipham Upper Primary School of which 25 people found infected by Covid-19 and 198 people were tested in Kakching Khunou Keithel out of which 38 found Covid positive.
