One more fatality takes Kangpokpi's COVID-19 toll to 27

Kangpokpi, May 26 2021:
Kangpokpi district on Wednesday recorded one more COVID-19 related death at COVID Care Centre, Leikop, taking the total toll to 27 .
The number of active cases now stands at 61 while the total of cumulative positive cases has reached 1,507 since the outbreak of the first wave of the pandemic.
Notably, official data shows that around 50 children, below 18 years of age, have tested positive for COVID-19 positive since March 1, 2021 .
One Mangeilong (60) of Mayangkhang village in Kangpokpi district is the latest victim of the dreaded disease in the district.
According to the medical report, the victim was brought to the COVID Care Centre around 11:15 am after he tested COVID-19 positive on May 25 .
Soon his condition deteriorated and went into cardiopulmonary arrest and was declared dead at 11:50 am.
His immediate cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest and antecedent was COVID-19 pneumonia.
Later, he was buried at the village cemetery following strict COVID protocols.
Meanwhile, according to the status report provided by District Surveillance Officer, Kangpokpi, 14 new positive cases were detected in the past 24 hours pushing the number of active cases to 61, with 13 recovered patients discharged.
The COVID Task Force Kangpokpi, however, reported 15 positive cases detected in Kangpokpi town alone on Wednesday.
COVID Task Force Kangpokpi president Haolet Khongsai said that six members of a family from Vengthah Ward No.3 tested positive.
This followed nine relatives (cousin brothers of a COVID-19 victim from Kangpokpi Ward No 2) testing positive after retests on the sixth day of home isolation from the date of death of their brother on May 20 .
Haolet also said that the COVID Task Force Kangpokpi volunteers had sealed their respective homes after informing the SDO Kangpokpi.
He then cautioned that anyone found discriminating any COVID patients and their family members within the jurisdiction of COVID Task Force Kangpokpi shall be reported to the authority concerned for appropriate action, while appealing to all who had come in contact with the positive families detected on Wednesday to get themselves tested at the earliest.
COVID Task Force Keithel-manbi, Santolabari Parsain, Tujang and others have put in place various preventive measures including contact tracing, helping the medical team in retest, enforcing COVID appropriate behaviour, humanitarian services in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Kangpokpi Police extended monetary assistance to the medical department of the district.
Additional SP )Ops) Lalminlen Misao, on behalf of SP Kangpokpi, handed over Rs 30,000 to the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Kangpokpi.
A team of Kangpokpi Police led by Kangpokpi police station OC inspector Henminthang Kipgen also enforce COVID appropriate behaviour in collaboration with COVID Task Force of various areas and villages in Kangpokpi AC.
Kangpokpi Fire personnel also carried out sanitisation of the highway, pharmacies, churches, etc., at various locations in the district.
