Imphal, June 24 2013:
Reacting to the stand of the State Government on cancellation of Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination-2013, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has asserted that the government is misleading the people by taking a posture that there is no room for further discussion on the issue as the Cabinet' decision has been effected following an order from the Supreme Court of India.
In a statement President of DESAM WM Islauddin denounced the remarks made by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing in respond to a question asked by Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi on June 19 on the floor of the House and said that the claim of the Health Minister that the medical entrance test had been cancelled in compliance with an order issued by the Supreme Court is a drama played by both the opposition leader and Minister to cover the issue of MBBS/BDS entrance exam cancellation.
Despite knowing that there was no such order for cancellation of the medical entrance tests to be conducted by the States, Dr Ibohalbi did not demanded to produce said order of the Supreme Court nor he enquired whether the order is existed or not, the student body flayed.
The State Cabinet's decision to cancel the State medical entrance test is only a plot to accommodate family members and relatives of the Government officials and Ministers against the reserved medical seats of the state through NEET, Islauddin asserted, adding the hidden agenda of state government has been revealed by filling of a caveat on 14th June at the High Court to avoid litigation over cancellation of the entrance test.
Questioning the credibility of CBSE and the examinations conducted by it, DESAM maintained that selection of medical students based on the merit list prepared by CBSE, which is now comparable to NIOS would be most unfortunate for the people of Manipur.
