Imphal, May 24 2013 :
Charging the rapists of a student of TG Higher Secondary School with attempting to negotiate with the victim's family by offering to buy a vehicle for the victim and also to provide Rs 2 lakhs to her as relief, the mother of the victim has poured out her grievances to the media.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Nirmala, mother of victim who was allegedly raped by Thongam Tarun, a Manipuri film actor and Yumnam William, a Commando driver of Imphal West Police station, stated that it is very disgusting on the part of the rapists to settle the matter by luring with gifts and money.
The rapists even used the name of one UG group to settle the matter asking the family members to come to Moreh for negotiation, Nirmala said, while demanding befitting punishment of the rapists.
Khaidem Angancha, Convener, JAC Against the Rape Case of TG Higher Secondary Student, who was also present on the occasion, said that it is because people involved in rape cases have never been given befitting punishment, the sexual crimes has increased in the State.
So, the rapists should not be spared.
