IRCS State unit to take up legal action against WAD Secy

The Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch has decided to take up legal action against M.Sobita, secretary of Women Action Development (WAD) who had allegedly blamed the society of not performing its works and responsibilities well.
The society's decision to act against Sobita was disclosed by its secretary, Dr.Mohen during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today.
Dr.Mohen told that the resolution take up legal action against Sobita has been taken up following the remark she allegedly made accusing that the Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch is not functioning properly and that its duties are left neglected.
Sobita had reportedly voiced about these remarks during a talk show programme in one of the local TV channels of the state telecasted on August 8, according to the society.
"Following the baseless and unfounded remarks made by Sobita, the society had earlier notified her to give clarification of her statement before August 15.But no explanation has been received from Sobita as yet", stated the society.
Seeing no response from Sobita's side the Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch is set to issue a defamation case against her at the earliest.
According to Dr.Mohen, the Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch is committed to alleviate human suffering of affected population of natural and human disasters as well as emergency situation like bomb blasts.
The society has provided immediate and prompt services to victims in cases of such mishaps, he added.
He claimed that Manipur State Branch has also trained more than 400 volunteers from different parts of the state with a view to ready and standby network of well prepared and trained volunteer who can render immediate support to community in any kind of emergency situation from 2006 to 2012 who are committed to render their immediate approach to help disaster affected people.
