Assam Rifles Organised Cycling Expedition

Imphal, March 20 2017:
Cycling expedition from Jessami to Mantripukhri covering a distance of 199 �Kms to highlight the selflessness, commitment and sacrifice of Assam Rifles was organised today by HQ 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), Mantripukhri.
During this endeavour, the expedition team showcased its dedication in its service as 'Friends of the North-East People' towards maintaining peace and harmony in the region and a spirit of adventure in its troops.
A total of 20 Assam Rifles personnel led by Major Vikrant Raje Bhonsle took up the challenge and covered the distance over a span of four days.

The participants were chosen from various units of HQ IGAR (South) .
The participants during their journey reached out to the locals and apprised the villagers of the various Government schemes which the locals and initiatives for the welfare of the people were unaware of in those remotely located villages.
A folder covering details of various Government schemes in local language was also distributed to all the villages enroute.
The team interacted with local youths aspiring to take up such adventure activities at Ukhrul, Litan and Yaingangpokpi and assured all their help and assistance.
