PDF rolls out Common Minimum Programme

The Peoples' Democratic Front (PDF), the allieance of five political parties, has identified the common issues and concerns of the partner parties as reflected in their election manifestos and come up with a Common Minimum Programme today.
The Common Minimum Programme of PDF was released today at the office of MPP near Pologround by MPP president, Nimaichand Luwang.
Arunkumar Srivastava, National General Secretary, JD(U); PA Sangma, National General Secretary NCP and Ksh Shanta, State Secretariat member of CPI Manipur State Council were also present on the occasion.
The Common Minimum Programme of PDF states that the Front will never compromise on the unity and integrity of the state while honouring the ethnic identity of every section of the state population.
It also pledged to protect the basic human rights of the people and said that the party will focus on the withdrawal of draconian Armed Forces Special Power Act,1958.The common minimum programme also includes a fool proof protection of the National Highways in Manipur by setting up a Highway Protection Force.
Power, Water, Road, Education and Health sectors figures among the area of priority of PDF.
The Common Minimum Programme further pledges to make Manipur 'self-sufficient' with an effective Agricultural and Forest Policy, and also a key player in the international market.
It also said that Manipur Urban Employment Generation Scheme will be introduced.
The party in its Common Minimum Programme also promises to root out corruption from the state by enactment of effective anti-corruption laws and applying the rule of 'cleansing from the top'.
Further, the Common Minimum Programme talks about establishment of a Sports University in the state, special packages for better living standards of the state's renowned Art and Cultural personalities, and ensuring that Manipur becomes a "Tourist Destination" of the foreign tourist.
Among other things, the Common Minimum Programme mentions converting the Loktak Lake into a full-fledged fish industry.
Opening of Special Development Cell of Manipur Script and Manipuri Language and establishment of Super Specialiity hospitals.
The PDF will also try and revive the Old Cachar Road (Tongjei Maril) to rid the state of extortions, troubles and blockades.
