Thoubal, December 16 2020:
Farmers in Thoubal district have drawn the attention of the State Government to address their grievances.
A meeting of farmers of Khangabok Part III was held today, wherein a farmer named, Moirangthem Rajen said, both the State and the Central Governments have failed to reach it out to the farmers despite running numerous advertisements for welfare schemes meant for farmers.
Both the Governments have been making tall claims of introducing farmer encouragement and welfare measures but sadly the measures have failed to reach farmers, he said while pointing out that no Rabi crop seeds have been received this season even as the Kharif season has ended for months.
Not only this, farmers are also struggling to get fertilizers for Rabi crops which were not an issue earlier, he said while drawing attention of the State Government to intervene and help dispel the plights of the farmers.
He also appealed to the State Government to make necessary arrangements to provide irrigation to farm plots in Khangabok area where cultivation of Rabi crops are underway.
