Special Judge POCSO Imphal East today remanded a 60-year- old man accused of committing sexual assault on a minor girl on April 11 to 4 days police custody.
The accused, Naorem Shayam alias Shyam alias Shayep of Imphal East district was arrested yesterday at around 4 pm in connection with the case based on the complaint lodged by the mother of the victim on April 14 .
The mother's complaint alleged that on April 11, her daughter was kept confined by the accused in his house for around 30 minutes and he attempted to commit sexual assault on the minor.
The minor was rescued by her elder brother by breaking the door.
The Investigating Officer of the case through Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted that during the investigation it was revealed that the victim girl was called by the accused when she was walking near the gate of his house.
The minor was then allegedly pushed inside a room and molested by the accused.
The accused told the minor to hide and not answer anyone if called.
Due to fear, the minor remained silent.
This was not the first time the accused had done this, revealed the investigation.
The accused used to call the victim whenever he saw her.
After assaulting her, the accused would give the minor Rs 10 and some eatables.
He would then threaten the minor not to spoke about the incident to anybody.
Stating that the accused was reluctant in disclosing the fact of the case, the Investigating Officer said further interrogation is highly needed and prayed the Court for 4 days police custody remand.
The Court after hearing the submissions of the 10, remanded the accused to 4 days police custody remand till April 19 .
