Gaikhangam calls to all for peace, harmony

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has called upon all communities in the State to take part unreservedly in the efforts to bring about long lasting peace and harmony in the society.
The Deputy CM was attending a function hosted to felicitate meritorious students of Rongmei community by Rongmei Literature Society (RLS) at Tarung Community Hall, Langol here on Saturday.
During the function, Gaikhangam commended all the students from Rongmei community of the State for securing higher marks in Ruanglat language paper in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam 2014 .
In a brief speech, Gaikhangam, who also holds the additional Home portfolio, said all ethnic groups in the State have equal contribution and share in promoting the culture of oneness.
He said these diverse communities have different colours of uniqueness which form the land of Manipur.
The Rongmei also has its own place in the history of the land where unity has a great role in preserving and promoting the culture of oneness, he urged.
The Deputy CM also emphasized the importance of promoting the ethnic languages of the State, which he said will help in bringing about development, peace and harmony.
Raguining Gangmei, president, RLS and LP Gonmei, member, Manipur Public Service Commission respectively attended as president and guest of honour of the function.
The meritorious Rongmei students who were honoured on the occasion included Victoria Guanmei, Kunglinliu Phaomei and Champoungamliu Phaomei.
