Imphal, April 10 2013:
The coordination Committee of KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF and UNLF has declared that it would boycott the forthcoming visit of India's President in Manipur and subsequently announced a 26 hour general strike.
President Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to arrive here on April 15 .
The general strike, according to the CorCom, would begin from 6 am of April 15 and continue till 8 am of April 16 .
Ahead of the visit, a corCom statement issued today said that the visit is yet another ploy by the Government of India to continue its domination of the erstwhile independent Manipur.
While Manipur lost its sovereign status after falling prey to India's mischievous ploy it is also worth noting that after losing independence 'productive forces' of Manipur have not only been exposed to extremely perilous situation but the Government of India has been scheming to destroy economy base of Manipur, observed CorCom.
Contrary to such sustained campaigns to subjugate the people of Manipur, the proposed arrival of the Indian President for inauguration as well as laying foundation stones inside Adimjati Complex will be merely an eyewash under the pretext of development projects while the real objective is to prolong India's grip on Manipur.
Justifying its boycott call, CorCom insisted that as the head of the nation, the president of India should be held responsible for killing innocent citizens of Manipur by the Indian security forces and for the narcotics warfare initiated by the Government of India with the ultimate intention to suppress the future pillars of Manipur.
While basic human rights of the Manipuris are being violated repeatedly there is no question of welcoming visit by Indian leaders to Manipur, it maintained while conveying that with the exception of personnel involved in essential services, including media, the general strike would be strictly enforced.
