Hunting, fishing, lumbering banned

Hunting, fishing and moving of timbers from Lemta village in Tamenglong district of Manipur have been restricted without obtaining prior permission from the Village Authority Council and Lemta United Council, said Chaiman, Lemta Village Authority Saturday.
Lemta village in Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district is located in the Kuilong area, bordering Nagaland's Peren district.
N Pakebou, chairman, Lemta Village Authority said except for Government development activities, bringing in labourers, elephants and trucks for shipping timbers from Lemta village are not permitted without say-so from Village Authority Council and Lemta United Council.
Hunting with guns and fishing in the village area are also been banned, he said.
Making tracks in the jungle areas of the village by intruders and carrying out activities like transportation of timbers, fishing and hunting have been witnessed by the villagers and these will not be allowed any more, he warned.
Individuals who act against the notice will be responsible for any unpleasant reprisal from the two NGOs, Pakebou further warned.
