Tamenglong, July 30 2012:
Following the strike called by contractual staffs of Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), TB patients in Tamenglong district have been deprived of their daily dose of medicines.
New patients who came for sputum test and other TB related treatment were also turned away by the staffs of the District Tuberculosis Centre due to the ongoing strike.
The RNTCP staffs have been on an indefinite cease work strike since July 27 in protest against denial of their monthly entitlements, which have been held up since February, 2012 as well as the move of the Pay Implementation Cell of Finance Department to deduct 30% from the monthly salary.
Meanwhile, All Manipur RNTCP Contractual Workers Welfare Union has made it clear that the ongoing strike would continue until all its demands are met.
However, patients who are getting drugs before the strike will get their drugs as before although the drugs would not be given by any contractual workers and the supply to various DOT Centres will not be made through contractual workers, General Secretary of the Union T Lenindro Mangang informed in a statement.
