MHRC takes note

Imphal, November 27 2019:
Following a news report in a local daily which accused the State police of physically assaulting others during crowd control, the Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has taken up a suo moto case.
Registering the suo moto case, MHRC Acting Chairperson Khaidem Mani further observed that such assault/attack is violation of human rights which requires inquiry under Section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993.The Commission then asked the DGP of Manipur Police to submit a detailed report on the matter before the Commission on or before December 20 and fixed the same day for further proceeding.
