Imphal, October 27 2020:
The Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS) Manipur has submitted a memorandum to the Governor and copies were submitted to the Chief Minister and Education Minister with a proposal to increase the seats in the educational institutions of the State.
In its memorandum, AIMS said there are more than fifty thousand native students studying professional and non-professional courses in different parts of the country and abroad.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a large number of Manipuris have returned home.
Considering the present situation the students are compelled to stay in Manipur, and many have already applied for admission in different educational institutions in the State.
However, there is significantly less chance of getting entry due to limited seats in educational institutions in Manipur, AIMS said.
AIMS has requested for increasing the number of seats at Manipur University (MU), Central Agricultural University (CAU), Dhanamanjuri University (DU), Manipur University of Culture (MUC), Manipur Technical University (MTU), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), National Sports University (NSU), Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), National Institute of Technology and Government schools in Manipur.
