Beating the Retreat

The 69th Republic Day celebration, 2018 concluded today with Beating of the Retreat ceremony at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles parade ground.
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla was the chief guest at the "Folk Dance Festival and Beating of the Retreat" and gave away prizes for various categories in connection with the celebration.
In today's folk dance competition, altogether 13 cultural troupes both from hills and valley participated.
The winners of the folk dance competition were Tribal Cultural Research Centre, Noney district (1st position), Lianda Folk & Classical Academy, Imphal West (2nd position) and Sangeet Kala Sangam, Imphal East (3rd position) and they received cash prizes of Rs 30,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

In the category of uniform contingent, Central Reserve Police Force (Male), Border Security Force (Male) and 9th Indian Reserve Battalion bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In school contingents category, Manipur Public School, Sainik School-A and TG Higher Secondary School secured first, second and third position respectively.
College Contingent; 1st position Imphal College, 2nd Manipur College and 3rd GP Women College, NCC group; 1st NCC Senior Air Wing, 2nd 14th Battalion Sr NCC and 3rd 65 Bn.
NCC Sr Girls Mahila contingent; 1st CRPF (Female) 2nd Traffic Police (Female) and 3rd Manipur Home Guard (Female).
In the category of Band Party, Central Reserve Police Force Band won 1st position , 2nd Assam Rifles Band and 3rd Sainik School Band.
Social Welfare Department's tableau was adjudged the best, while, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Disaster Management jointly got 2nd position and the 3rd position was shared by Health Department and Department of Information and Public Relations.
