Fight against drugs cum free health medical camp organised

With the objective of curbing the menace of drug abuse and addiction in the district, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Chandel launched a "Fight against drugs cum free health medical camp" at Behlung Memorial Town Hall, Chakpikarong today.
The launch programme cum free health camp was sponsored by ADC, Chandel and organised by BJP Mandal 41 and Chakpikarong Chief Association.
The event was graced by Th Joy Lamkang, vice chairman, ADC, Chandel, St Thumwar, president, Chakpikarong Area Chief Association and Daryal Juli Anal, CEO, ADC, Chandel as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Dr Kesho Moirang, District Aid Officer, Chandel and Kh Nabakishore Singh, MO, ADC, Chandel also attended the function as resource persons and spoke on the topics "Social impacts of drug addiction" and "Mechanism and clinical aspects of drug addiction" respectively.
Speaking to media persons, Ps Monihring, president, BJYM, Chandel conveyed that the programme was launched as a goodwill gesture by the Youth Morcha taking into consideration the alarming drug abuse situation in the district.
He went on to state that the menace of drug abuse and addiction has reached peak levels in the district with a massive number of students and youth ensnared in the dreadful activity.
He said that the programme will be helpful in reaching out to even the most interior parts of the district, including Khengjoi/Khengjoy block and Sajik Tampak etc.
On the other hand, replying to a query about whether the recent seizure of large amount of drugs from the quarter of Chandel ADC Chairman will affect such movement or campaign against drug abuse, Joy Lamkang claimed there is no connection between the ADC and the incident and the case must be considered as the personal case of the Chairman., He termed the incident as a surprise and a shock adding the law will take its own course in connection with the case if the Chairman is found guilty after investigation/enquiry.
He also informed that the incident has not affected ADC, Chandel.
Four doctors, six nurses and many other paramedical staff attended the free health camp where clinical tests, including HIV and Hepatitis C testes apart from medicine were provided to the needy patients/people free of costs.
