KSDC condoles Pu Thangmawia's death

The Kuki State Demand Committee WAS shocked and saddened by the sudden death of a great leader of the Zo people, Pu Thangmawia who was the president of Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZoRO) on July 20, 2015 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Pu Thangmawia was in Geneva for attending the 8th Session of UN-EMRIP (UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of the Indigenous People), held from 20 to 24 July 2015, a statement by KSDC general secretary K Gangte said.
Pu R Thangmawia championed the cause of legitimate rights of the Zo people who have been marginalized by the international boundaries of India, Myanmar, Bangladesh and China, the statement said.
It stated under his untiring leadership, ZoRO became an affiliated-member of the UNPFII (United Nations People Forum for Indigenous People) on May 10, 2001 and EMRIP in 2004.He presented the Zo indigenous issues in various international conferences and seminars, it said.
And it was under his leadership that a meeting of various social and political organizations of Mizoram was held at FW Savidge Hall, Aizawl, in 2013 and a concrete resolution was adopted in support of the Kuki political movement in Manipur, it recounted.
Pu Thangmawia was a visionary leader whose leadership for the integration of the Zo people is unmatched and he truly was the Father of Zo People, the committee stated.
On his death, the KSDC has lost an eminent leader whose service for the cause of the KSDC will be always remembered.
It also conveyed its deepest condolences to his family and the ZoRO as well.
