KYO general conference, sports meet begin

Kamu Koireng Village Authority and Kamu Koireng Youth Welfare Association jointly hosted the 49th General Conference cum Sports Meet Kangpokpi District of Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation, (KYO) Manipur at Kamu Koireng Village ground on Tuesday.
The inaugural function was attended by Saikul AC MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO) president Nando Luwang, KYO Manipur president RN Boipu Koireng and Horticulture & Soil Conservation minister Letpao Haokip's chief agent Hopson Chothe as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, AMUCO ex-president R Yang-sosong Koireng expressed that
Koireng is a small community but a part and parcel of Manipur's history since time immemorial.
However, it is lamentable that the community is disregarded at times, whether it may be by the MLAs, ministers or the general populace.
As such, he appreciated MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing for thinking of the community.
In Her speech as the chief guest, MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing noted that the Koireng community does not fall behind other communities, whether in education or other aspects.
The MLA then stressed the need for concerted efforts to guide the youth onto the right path and assured of consulting with the CM and minister concerned in addressing the inconveniences of Koireng youth.
Addressing the gathering, KYO president RN Boipu Koireng remarked that Koireng is a peace-loving community.
However, it has been seemingly ignored by the government, which is further threatening its existence.
Thus, he urged the CM and his government to take up requisite measures for saving the community.
During the inaugural function, Kamu Koireng chieftain submitted a memorandum to MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, mentioning the difficulties and development-related issues faced by the village.
Later, various cultural dances were presented at the function, which commenced with a song performance by artistes of Kamu Koireng Youth Club.
The dignitaries also released a book containing the folktales and folklores of Koireng community.
Afterwards, MLA Kimneo kicked off a football match.
