Women bodies stage sit-in protest

Imphal, August 23 2020:
Condemning the alleged murder of one Laishram Angamba Singh of Ningthoukhong on August 15, a sit-in protest was jointly staged by three women organisation namely Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (MPAL), Nambol Area Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (NAMPAL) and United Women Development Organisation Bishnupur District, today.
During the demonstration, the women bodies expressed that the death of Laishram Angamba should not be taken lightly, as it is also reported to be a drug related alleged murder.
The women bodies have demanded for justice of the deceased and also to enforce strict laws to eradicate drug menace in the State.
The bodies also cautioned that if the person(s) responsible for the alleged murder of Laishram Angamba is not caught, then they will defy all COVID SOPs and resort to agitations for which the Government shall take responsibility for any untoward incidents that may arise out of it.
The lups also stated that it will support the decisions taken by the JAC formed against the alleged murder of Angamba.
