Govt employees defer strike

Imphal, October 14 2011:
A joint emergency general body meeting of Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO), MSSA, and MSPU held today has decided to postpone the proposed cease work strike for 10 days.
The decision has been taken after a thorough discussion and in due consideration of the request made by the Government of Manipur to wait for the return of the Chief Minister from Delhi for taking a final decision on the pending demands of the Government employees, workers and pensioners, according to a joint statement signed by General Secretary of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO Chingtham Chandramani Singh, General Secretary of MSSA Purujit Lairikyengbm and General Secretary of MSPU L Tombi Singh.
The joint meeting further decided to resume cease work strike from October 24 if nothing positive comes out after October 23, the joint statement added.
