Imphal, November 13 2013:
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland)-ZU(AMN) has strongly condemned and expressed its extreme sadness over the armed confrontation between NSCN-IM and ZUF which took place at Bholok village in Tamenglong district on November 12 resulting in killing of 3 cadres of ZUF and injuring one cadre of NSCN (IM) .
In a statement issued by its General Secretary K Poushinglung, ZU (AMN) said that it considers this incident as an act against the spirit of the standing appeal of Chaguat Phom as well as general public.
ZU (AMN) has always been working for maintenance of peace between the different factions or sections of armed militants in Zeliangrong areas of Assam, Manipur & Nagaland.
ZU (AMN) once again appealed to every armed group or faction in Zeliangrong areas not to resort to armed actions/conflicts, as a means of sorting out their differences, and such mutual hostilities will only cause problems and hardship for the civil societies/innocent public and will not help at all for achievement of their goals.
ZU (AMN) has also conveyed its condolences to all the bereaved families and prayed for departed souls to rest in peace.
Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB), Manipur and Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF)- Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (AMN) have also appealed to all arm groups operating in Zeliangrong areas to stop gun fighting.
In a joint statement, General Secretary of ZB Manipur Poudinlung Riamei and Joint Secretary of ZYF (AMN) David Kamei said that resurfacing of gun fights on 12th November, 2013 at Phailong (Bhalok) village under Tamenglong Assembly Constituency between different arm groups in Tamenglong district which left 3 cadres belonging to ZUF namely Niamgaipou Kamei s/o Kaguithuan Kamei of Ragailong Khoupum, Pougailung Kamei s/o Gaikhangmon of Taulingpung, Khoupum and Khongailung Gangmei s/o, Poudonrei of Chamtilan Jiri lost their lives and injured of one cadre namely Hormi Tangkhul belonging to NSCN is a great concern for the people of the district.
The people are yearning for peace and tranquillity in Zeliangrong areas but not heeded by arm groups has caused people impatient and crossed tolerable limits.
Whenever, gun fights broke out, the casualty is none other Naga brethren, therefore, there is no need for pride by killing own brothers.
The transformation of Zeliangrong areas into battle field by different arm groups is totally condemnable and appealed for immediate withdrawal from their respective position in order to avoid further confrontation between themselves.
The senseless act of gun fights in a village in the midst of innocent villagers has created fear psychosis among the innocent villagers.
The festive seasons and peaceful atmosphere have once again shattered and vitiated by the sounds of explosion and booming guns, the joint statement added.
