Refrain from fratricide, appeals UNC to Naga groups

The United Naga Council is dismayed by the October 7 ambush on NSCN (IM) by Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) at Subung village in Tamenglong district and has appealed to different Naga insurgent groups to refrain from fratricidal act.
In a press communiqu� issued on Tuesday, the UNC urged "all Naga groups to refrain from such acts so that the collective future of our people can be secured with peace and harmony and to open up to the healing and fortifying movement for Naga Reconciliation" .
The UNC expressed shock at the incident that left six NSCN cadres dead and five others injured including "Brig." Sounii Poumai.
"At this point in time when Nagas are clamoring for reconciliation within the Naga family, such an unfortunate incident is a blot on the reconciliation process that has seen much progress and has been very encouraging," the apex Naga body stated.
"We extend our deeply felt condolences to the bereaved families and wish speedy recovery to those who were injured," the UNC expressed.
Meanwhile, the Naga body conveyed its gratitude to the Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur, other Zeliangrong frontal organizations, Inpui Naga Union, other community organizations and individuals for selfless service extended to the slain and injured cadres.
