Imphal, September 10 2015 :
United Naga Council (UNC) on Thursday reiterated that it has "nothing to do" with the Government of Manipur or any acts or bills passed by the Assembly.
Reminding that since the Nagas had declared "severance of political ties" with the State Government on July 1, 2010, the UNC said it had neither been in touch or had been talking with the Government of Manipur.
UNC reminded that on July 29, the council had submitted a representation to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi informing him that "no issues or demands raised by other communities living in the present State of Manipur affecting or tending to affect the Naga position on land, identity, history, culture, time honored institutions and political aspirations will be tolerated under any circumstances and urged the Government of India to expedite the Indo-Naga peace process with political will to its logical conclusion for lasting peace in the region" .
The council said, "We will neither compromise nor negotiate with our adversary that is going to affect the established position of the Nagas and also decided to struggle collectively till we achieve our long cherished political aspiration" .
