International conference to optimize benefits of bamboo resources

Imphal, October 06 2015:
A five-day 'First International Bamboo Conference cum Workshop' will kick-off on October 22 to mark the International Bamboo Day 2015 at Oriental College, Imphal.
In this regard, a press meet was held at the Oriental College conference hall on Tuesday.
Oriental College Institutional Organising Committee, Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd, Manipur and Bamboo Forum of India will jointly host the conference, organising committee convenor Dr Th Brojendro said.
Union Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar will inaugurate the programme, he said.
Dr Brojendro said this will be a mega programme of the country and Asia as well.
Over 20 technical experts from several countries will take part in the international conference, he added.
He said the conference is being held with an attempt to optimize the multi-purpose benefits of bamboo resources.
Dr Bojendro appealed to the public to render support to the international programme.
Oriental College Principal Th Biren, organizing committee secretary L Gopeshwor Sharma, Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd executive vice president E Brojen, Bamboo Forum of India co-ordinator Haobam Sukumar were also present during the press meet.
