Ukhrul locals repair link road

The people of Khamphasom, Ukhrul today volunteered and repaired the link road that connects with the main highway of Ukhrul town.
The road was in pathetic condition for many years and was not included in any of project for improvement inspite of their repeated approaches to the district administration and PWD to revamp the road, said secretary of the local club od Khamphasom, Khamung.
According to Khamung, the residents of Khamphasom contributed money for repairing the road and the drainage that were damaged during rainy season.
The locality is densely populated and is the residential area of the SP, Ukhrul, munsif Court, old district hospital and schools.
The area is always choc-a-bloc with vehicular movements.
The residents levelled the potholes and the work was held at three different points, one near the district session Court, St Mary's School and the cemetery road.
The local people also expressed gratitude to the chairman of the locality Alstone for providing his truck to transport stones throughout the day during the social work.
The local folks also urged the PWD to restore the road before Shirui Lily festival as the link road is a vital route to ease traffic congestion.
