Imphal, September 04 2015 :
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) disapproved of the BJP's assertion that the Centre is focusing on the Northeast and added that such tall claims are mere lip service.
On Friday, a meeting of Youth Congress was held at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai in Imphal West.
Addressing the meet, MPCC Secretary Jotin Waikhom said the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has time and again claimed that the North East is one of its focal points, which is untrue.
The Modi Government had revoked the special category status initially enjoyed by the region and now that 50 percent share of each project taken up by the Centre has to be spent by every State because of the negative and wrong step, Jotin said.
The Congress leader further criticized the Centre for concealing the facts of the Naga Peace Accord and said failing to bring out the contents of the framework agreement in the public domain is condemnable.
Meanwhile, Jotin said that the youths have an important role to play in strengthening the position of the State Congress party which has been tirelessly working hard for the betterment of the people for years.
Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee president N Ibotombi and former IMC chairperson Aribam Jivanlata shared the dais during the meet.
