Imphal, January 03 2019:
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has strongly condemned the incident at Heinoukhong Leikai, Khonou Leikai and Turel Wangma Leikai of Moreh in which some cadres of Kuki National Army (KNA) along with their local cohorts allegedly destroyed numerous properties belonging to the locals on the night of December 31.A press release issued by the joint secretary of UKLF claimed that Paominlun Hanghal s/o Thanglal Hanghal of Guite Veng Moreh (an active cadre of KNA/KNO) and his team namely Sehkhongam Khongsai s/o Lamjakap Khongsai of New Moreh, Thamthrung Mate s/o Benzamin Mate of Shijang village (Moreh Gilgal veng), Lalngaisang Chongloi s/o Paojang Chongloi of Lhangkhichoi Veng, Deepak Touthang s/o Limkhopao Touthang of Ngamkhai Veng and Tongminlal Touthang s/o Jamkholun Touthang of Leijangphai village, under Paominlun's command, vandalised the properties claiming themselves to be cadres of UKLF and clarified that UKLF has no knowledge of the incident and is never involved in such uncivilised act which can cause communal tension in the town.
Alleging that the culprits, who belong to KNA, claimed themselves to be UKLF so as to defame the organisation, it conveyed that UKLF will not tolerate such lies and vowed to take befitting actions against such criminals if the Government fails to take up necessary actions to deliver justice to the victims.
Pointing out that UKLF never commits such crimes nor has indulged in such acts, it appealed to the local CSOs and the people to verify such criminals when they use the name of the organisation in the future.
It further urged the Government to look into the matter with serious concern and take up strong actions against the SoO group committing such crimes so as to prevent such unwanted incidents in the future, creating tension among the locals of Moreh town.
