Awareness cum drug addiction camp concludes

The valedictory function of the 15-day long District Level Awareness Cum- Drug Addiction Camp organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India was held at RDS Training Center, Khongjom War Memorial Complex yesterday.
Delivering the key note address, Y Lakshman Singh, District Youth Coordinator, Thoubal highlighted the activities of the camp which included detoxification of 25 drug addicts, awareness and education by technical experts, interactions session with recovering addicts, health check-up by medical officers, Art of Living for health body and mind, cultural programme for recreations and personality development, counseling with professionals, social service, games and sports for healthy living, etc.
Chief Guest of the function, K Radhakumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, advised the youth to be courageous enough to face the challenges of overcoming the habit of drug abuse.
He also gave away prizes to the position holders in various competitions held during the camp and certificates to all the campers.
Dr Kh Radheshyam Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal, who presided over the function, advised the youths not to abuse drugs during their tender age.
As part of the valedictory function, the Chief Guest and President supervised the newspaper clippings and photo exhibitions related to the awareness and education for prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism organized by NYK in different villages of the district.
L Damu Singh, Chief Project Coordinator, RDS attended the function as Guest of Honour.
