Covid claims 4 more lives, infects 17

Imphal, November 29 2021:
Though the threat from Covid-19 pandemic has declined substantially, the virus claimed four more lives on Monday while government bulletins reported 17 new cases out of 1216 samples tested in the last 24 hours registering a daily positivity rate of 1.4 per cent against 2.46 per cent on Sunday.
Out of the four victims, one was a Myanmarese national while the remaining three were residents of Imphal East, Imphal West and Ukhrul district.
None of them have taken the Covid vaccines and the total number of fatalities has reached 1975.The active caseload came down to 655 out of which only 49 (7.48 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in different hospitals and Covid care facilities.
Out of the 16 districts, only four reported fresh Covid cases on Monday with Imphal East recording highest cases at seven.
In terms of positivity rate, Kamjong district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 28.6 per cent while Imphal West district recorded lowest positivity rate at 1.7 per cent.
So far, the state has recorded 95,769 positive cases and 1601 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 1438 new positive cases and 54 death cases out of which 212 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 17 new positive cases (9 male & 8 female) are from among the general population whose samples were confirmed at JNIMS (4) and other testing centres (13) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (7), Imphal West (6), Kamjong (2) and Ukhrul (2) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 43 persons were discharged from home isolation (3), RIMS (4), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (33) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,169 (general population - 1,20,739 and CAPF personnel - 4,430) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,22,539 (general population - 1,18,180 and CAPF personnel - 4,359) and number of active cases is 655 (general population - 589 and CAPF personnel - 66).The recovery rate is 97.90 per cent.
A total of 318 D-type and 75 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Whereas, only 3948 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,78,871 out of which 8,64,050 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,850), Imphal East (27,779), Thoubal (9474), Churachandpur (10,179), Kangpokpi (2786), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9201), Senapati (2241), Ukhrul (2994), Kakching (6436), Chandel (2354), Noney (1073), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (660), Imphal East (471), Thoubal (177), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (192), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (113), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,338 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,717 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,56,570 tests per million population against the national average of 4,57,649 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1216 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.40 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.84 per cent.
