UKLF celebrates Christmas

Imphal, December 28 2012:
The Kuki Army (United Kuki Liberation Front)celebrated the birthday of Lord Jesus Christ at its GHQ, Nazareth Muvanphoi camp, Chandel District, Manipur from the 24 to 26 Dec.
2012 with pomp and grandeur where all the ranks and files of the cadres took part.
This year the celebration was attended by not only the cadres but also by all their family members, which was the first of its kind in the history of Kuki revolutionary movement where civilians including fathers, mothers, girls and children of all ages of the cadres celebrated the Christmas festival together in the camp.
Nazareth Muvanphoi camp is the designated camp of UKLF and it also serves as the general HQ of the outfit.
The camp was constructed and inaugurated in 2010 after the organization signed Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with the Govt of India and the Government of Manipur in 2008 .
Apart from church services in every morning and evening, other items like song competition among the mothers and wives of the cadres, Bible recitation competition among the UKLF cadres, Volley ball competition between mothers and girls and also between officers and non-officer cadres made the celebration more interesting and enjoyable.
Handsome prizes like cash and mobile handsets were also given away to winners/winning teams by SS.Haokip, Commander in Chief of the organization and his wife Vahneilhing, apart from consolation prizes to all participants.
Inspiring gospel messages were delivered by the two speakers namely David Haokip, Gen.
Secy.
of the organization and Pastor Songkholal Haokip.
The Christmas festival was organized under the leadership of Capt.
Jacob Thadou, Maj.
Max Baite and Maj.
.HDaniel Mangboi Thadou as committee chairman, Secy.
and treasurer respectively.
Informing this in a statement, information and publicity secretary of the outfit JM Thadou conveyed that UKLF felt very upset over the current turmoil arising out of a small incident thereby disturbing the peaceful celebration of Christmas to many people and appealed to all communities to shun violent and strive for peace and communal harmony so that real and lasting peace and prosperity prevail in our society.
This is the sole purpose of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to this world, he reminded.
Apart from christmas celebration, the organization also conducted its annual general assembly on the 27th Dec.
