Imphal, May 27 2013:
Landslides at Nungdolan area along NH 37 and Sangarubang area along the stretch of Khongsang-Tamenglong Head Quarters road have caused serious problems to people travelling along the said area.
According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, Sangarubang area has been totally blocked by landslide for almost two days.
However, after the personnel of BRTF cleared the road using excavators, goods loaded and passenger vehicles have been able to pass through the stretch of road.
Nevertheless, the people still suffer from the pathetic condition of the road.
The State Government has already included mending of the road stretch from Khongsang to Tamenglong in its work programme and assured starting of the repairing work as soon as the required fund for the said work is sanctioned.
The report further said that owing to digging up of ground for making tunnels for railway lines from Jiribam to Tupul, the stretch of the road in this area along NH 37 is now in such an awful condition that vehicles are finding it hard to cross.
In addition to this, the road stretch from Barak to Nungba is also in its worst condition.
The road stretch from Kotlien to Barak is also a problem to the passenger and goods laden trucks going from Imphal to Jiribam.
Rocks and mud sliding from the hill have accumulated in the middle of the roads, thus making it difficult for the vehicles to negotiate.
