3 from state named for Padma Shri

Imphal, January 25 2022:
In connection with the 73rd Republic Day celebration, President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday approved the conferment of 128 Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian awards in the country.
Of the 128 recipients, three from Manipur have been selected for the Padma Shri.
They are Lourembam Bino (Art), Muktamani Devi (Trade and Industry), and Konsam Ibomcha Singh (Art) .
Ibomcha, who hails from Nandeibam Leikai, Imphal East, has been selected for the award in recognition of his efforts to preserve the traditional doll-making art and culture of Manipur.
Lourembam Bino of Singjamei Thokchom Leikai, Imphal West has been selected for the prestigious honour for her expertise in the embroidery patterns woven on traditional pillow covers, called 'Liba' and on Ningkham (part of a traditional headdress) .
Meanwhile, Moirangthem Muktamani of Kakching Moirangthem Leikai would be honoured in recognition of her talent in making woollen shoes and becoming an entrepreneur of the same.
The President would be presenting the Padma awards in a ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, either in March or April this year.
