Heroin worth ₹5 crore seized, five arrested

A team of Kakching district police commando ar rested three people including a 16-year-old girl and seized Rs 5 crore worth of Heroin on Saturday morning.
According to a police report, the drugs were seized from a Honda City car (AS O1BS 0026) at Pallel on Saturday around 8.30 am.
The heroin, weighing around 2.413 kg and packed in 200 soap cases, is estimated to be worth around Rs 5 crore in the international market.
Police also arrested the three occupants of the car identified as Solomon Letminhao (19) s/o Lunkhoson of Hengshi Village, Chakpikarong and his mother Hatneilam Haokip (49).The third occupant is a 16-year-old girl.
They have been handed over to Kakching PS for further course of legal action.
Meanwhile, a team of Bishnupur district police apprehended two people with illegal drugs from Torbung Mamang Leikai around 1.15 pm on Friday.
The two arrested people have been identified as Kamjinmon Haokip (27) s/o Mangkholen Haokip of Kongjang Lok village and Hemminlal Touthang (38) s/o Helkhopao Touthang of Tuidem, Sangaikot, both in Churachandpur district.
According to a police report, based on reliable information provided by YADA about movement of some drug peddlers in Kwakta area, a combined team of district police commando and Phougakchao (Ithai) PS carried out checking and frisking operation in Torbung and Kwakta area.
During the operation, the combined team halted a Royal Enfield Motorcycle (MN01F-0239) ridden by Kamjinmon and Hemmin lai and checked them.
Five soap cases containing 66 gm of suspected heroin powder were seized from their possession.
Both the arrested people and the seized items have been handed over to Phougakchab (Ithai) PS for further legal action.
